about us

The story of the Beiriz rug  began over 100 years ago. In the small town of Beiriz in Póvoa de Varzim, only 15 minutes away from Oporto, the first Beiriz rugs were born in 1919. The production grew quickly and only a decade later our rugs could be seen all over the world.

Since 1919

It is part of our mission to keep the century-old tradition of the Beiriz knot. We use the same techniques that have been passed from artisan to artisan over the years until the present day. In our factory you can contemplate the work of weavers in manual looms, and admire the fact that we are one of the last handknotting producers in Europe.

Technology and craftsmanship

Besides the handknotted rugs, we also master the handtuft technique. With state of the art technologies, that support this artisan production, we can create new designs and textures that fit perfectly in any interior project.

Natural materials

Wool is our raw material of choice. A material with high quality and durability, soft to the touch and that can be used in various techniques and with different types of finishing. But we can also offer our clients other choices, like lyocell and cotton to achieve differents effects in texture and colour.

Technical variety

We have a vast knowledge and technical experience that allows us to transform a simple design into a unique rug. Our team will advise you in terms of pile heights, densities, materials and carvings to create that special statement piece in you room.
